CARMEL, Ind. – Merchants Bank of Indiana (NASDAQ:MBIN) (“Merchants Bank”) today announces the hiring of Brian Konwar as a Senior Business Development Officer in the Small Business Administration (SBA) Lending division. He will join the Merchants team located in Houston, Texas.
Konwar brings nearly 20 years of experience in business banking to Merchants’ SBA lending team. Prior to joining Merchants Bank of Indiana, Konwar worked in a similar role as an SBA business development officer for Wells Fargo in Houston, where he structured and tested business cash flow to assess financial risks associated with borrowers. Before this, he held different positions within the company as an assistant branch manager and business banker.
At Merchants, as a Senior Business Development Officer for the SBA Lending division, Konwar will be tasked with originating SBA 7(a) and 504 loans as well as crafting strategies to generate new business, amid other responsibilities. He will also leverage his existing network throughout the Houston market and central U.S.

Konwar is a graduate of the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and computer information systems.
