Merchants Bancorp Outfits New HQ with Local, Impact-Driven Furniture

In September, Merchants Bank of Indiana and subsidiary Merchants Capital completed construction of a 120,000 square-foot headquarters in Midtown Carmel, Indiana.

The new “Merchants Plaza” – home to executive offices, residential and multifamily mortgage banking operations and a new retail bank branch – houses our nearly 200 employees and allows for additional hires, ensuring our company’s continued growth and commitment to Indiana.

Located on the intersection of Elm Street and Monon Blvd., our new headquarters is outfitted with several pieces of Purposeful Design furniture. Purposeful Design’s mission is to help re-build the lives of men, women and youth who have struggled through poverty, addiction, homelessness and prison by equipping them with woodworking skills – therefore creating a path to employment.

The faith-based organization starts with heart-level issues while helping individuals learn work skills and the art of furniture making. Individual and commercial sales of the handcrafted, custom furniture built by these once-struggling individuals creates a revenue stream to support the rebuilding of their lives.

The furniture purchased by Merchants is being used in the building’s new “social hub,” which serves as the primary congregation area for our employees. The space is furnished with several dining and gathering tables built by Purposeful Design craftsmen.
