Carmel, Ind. – Merchants Bancorp (NASDAQ:MBIN), along with subsidiaries Merchants Bank of Indiana and Merchants Capital, today unveils its new headquarters as part of the company’s commitment to long-term and sustainable growth in Indiana.
The 120,000-square-foot building – located at the intersection of Elm Street and Monon Boulevard in Midtown Carmel – houses nearly 200 employees with ample room for future expansion. With executive offices and mortgage operations on the upper floors, the five-story building is complete with a Merchants Bank branch on the street level, as well as 8,000 square feet of available retail space, and 24,000 square feet of leasable office space.
“We are thrilled to open our new headquarters in the heart of Carmel, which continues to prove itself as a premier place to live and work,” said Mike Petrie, chairman and CEO of Merchants Bancorp. “Building a cohesive and collaborative team has been key to Merchants’ success, and the headquarters design reinvigorates our mission to further attract and retain new employees as we continue our growth in the Hoosier state.”
Designed by Dillon Construction Group and Studio M Architects, a few noteworthy perks for HQ employees include: gathering areas with large TVs, standing desks, full locker rooms with showers, access to the Monon Trail, and a close proximity to Midtown Carmel dining, shopping and living.
Coined as the “Grand Hop-ening” after the Merchants’ frog mascot named Hopper, the company hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to introduce its new headquarters on Friday, Sept. 20 at 10:30 a.m., which featured the mascot in a branded IndyCar. The reveal was celebrated alongside the Merchants’ leadership team and city representatives, including Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard.
“Merchants Bank has been a part of Indiana for many years, and we are thrilled that they chose Carmel for their new corporate headquarters,” Brainard said. “Our strategy of investing in the infrastructure of our Midtown redevelopment district continues to pay off with Merchants’ beautiful new building overlooking the Monon Greenway and our Midtown Plaza. We look forward to sharing in their growth and success for many years to come.”
Merchants Bancorp has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Indiana four years in a row, and Merchants Bank of Indiana was recently ranked the #1 Best Performing Community Bank in Indiana and #6 Nationally by S&P Global Market Intelligence for community banks with $3 to $10 billion in assets. Since its inception, Merchants Capital has closed more than $13.8 billion in loans and currently services loans in excess of $10 billion.
The company’s corporate offices were previously housed in leased space in Carmel. Additionally, the unveiling comes after Merchants Capital’s recent opening of a loan production office in Chicago – the company’s fourth office nationwide.
